The Venus flytrap (Dionaea muscipula) is a carnivorous plant that catches insects in a trap made of half-lobed trapping leaves with spikes on the edge to prevent the prey from escaping. When the insect reaches the leaf, it touches its hairs, triggering a rapid movement that closes the trap in less than half a second. The leaf halves are at an angle of 40 to 50° to each other when open. The Lorenz strange attractor is a fractal set of states of a chaotically behaving dynamic system describing convective flow in the atmosphere. It is a continuous curve in three-dimensional space, never intersecting or repeating, and filling a limited region that it never leaves. The shape of the curve formed by a pair of flat orbits resembles a folded leaf or butterfly wings. The Lorenz flytrap is an algorithmic stochastic polyphonic composition, in which each of the voices is created by a mathematically modelled virtual fly moving in space along a trajectory represented by an instance of Lorenz's strange attractor.

Mucholapka podivná (Dionaea muscipula) je masožravá rostlina, která loví hmyz do pasti tvořené půlenými lapacími listy opatřenými na lemu špičatými výrůstky zabraňujícími kořisti v úniku. Hmyz se při dosednutí na list dotkne jeho chloupků, čímž spustí rychlý pohyb, kterým se za necelé půl sekundy past uzavře. Poloviny listů mezi sebou v otevřeném stavu svírají úhel 40 až 50°. Lorenzův podivný atraktor je fraktální množina stavů chaoticky se chovajícího dynamického systému popisujícího konvekční proudění v atmosféře. Je to spojitá křivka v trojrozměrném prostoru, nikdy se neprotíná ani se neopakuje a vyplňuje omezenou oblast, kterou nikdy neopouští. Tvar křivky tvořené dvojicí plochých orbit připomíná složený list či motýlí křídla. Lorenzova mucholapka je algoritmická stochastická polyfonní kompozice, v níž je každý z hlasů vytvářen matematicky modelovanou virtuální mouchou pohybující se v prostoru po trajektorii reprezentované instancí Lorenzova podivného atraktoru.
