Rudovous



The band was founded in 1994 in Prague and it was a quartet at the time, consisting of a guitar, a bass guitar, drums and an accordion. A year later the clarinet was added and that is how the band performs until today. Thanks to the rather un-traditional cast and the extraordinary, gruff voice of the lead singer, drummer and songwriter Martin Cizek the band is easily distinguishable. They like to describe themselves as "rock & schrammel - shrapnel - chanson band", but naming the style should better be left up to the audience. What is easy to tell though is that the boys and the girl favour Old Prague songs, TV-bedtime story´s music as well as 70's punk rock and Tom Waits' unique kind of jazz. Rudovous has played in a number of clubs all over the Czech Republic and at various music festivals, as well as supported some well-known groups like The Tiger Lillies, Poza, Gogol Bordello ...etc. They are also known in Switzerland (Bern - Reitschule, Zurich, St. Gallen), where the band performs regularly. Members of Rudovous play in other well-known Czech bands, too. Due to infrequent live performances the concerts become "no-miss" events.
